An Evening of Theater, Linguistic Wizardry, and Recognition in College Park, Maryland
On April 12th, 2025, the halls of the University of Maryland buzzed with linguistic creativity and intellectual enthusiasm as over 200 attendees gathered for the 11th Language Creation Conference (LCC11)—a global event hosted by the Language Creation Society (LCS). Held in the H.J. Patterson Hall, Room 2130, within the Department of Linguistics, the conference brought together conlangers, linguists, authors, and language enthusiasts from around the world to celebrate and explore the art and science of constructed languages (conlangs). Past conferences have been held in such varied and vibrant locations as Los Angeles, London (UK), and Montreal, with each gathering offering a unique blend of scholarly presentations, artistic showcases, and cultural exchange. This year, for the first time, the conference brought theatrical performance directly into the heart of the event—and Riddlesbrood was front and center.
See MoreI write this account with trembling hands, not out of remorse, but as a warning. If you value your sanity, heed my words and leave this tale unfinished. There are truths too horrifying to behold, and I—Professor T. Halberd of Extempory College, scholar of ancient linguistics and gender studies—am a man undone by such experiences! It was New Year’s Eve when this all began, though that night feels distant, like a half-remembered nightmare. I was walking home, alone as usual, through the quiet streets of Haddonfield. Snow crunched underfoot, muffling the slight wheezing of my breath. Fireworks whispered in the distance, though they brought no joy to me. I’ve never been one for celebrations, dear reader. My colleagues barely tolerate me, and my students mock me when they think I’m out of earshot; yet, I’ve made peace with solitude, as such is the cost of genius.
See MoreOur Traveling Theater adventure began in Stratford, NJ, where our headquarters buzzed with activity. Preparing for a show as elaborate as A Christmas Carol requires meticulous organization. Costumes, props, and set pieces filled every inch of our space as Kathleen Tegen and Shannon Long finalized their stunning designs. Each piece was carefully packed to ensure its safe arrival. Meanwhile, the set—crafted to transport audiences to Victorian England—was disassembled and loaded into two trucks and a trailer. This impressive logistical feat was coordinated by our stage managers, Brian Albert, Kevin Ebner and Cadence Tegen, who ensured every item was accounted for. With everything packed, the cast and crew gathered early on December 12th for a final checklist. The trucks were secured, the trailer hitched, and our caravan set off for the six-hour journey to Roanoke, VA. The road ahead was long, (And rainy!) but the energy was high as we anticipated the magic we were about to create.

Families from all over gathered to enjoy the lively atmosphere, but one of the biggest highlights of the day was when Riddlesbrood rolled in with their signature Castle Bus—a 4x4 custom muscle truck that transforms into an outdoor stage. The moment the Castle Bus made its grand appearance, excitement rippled through the crowd, as everyone knew they were in for a special treat.

This setup involves arranging props, costumes, sets, lights, sound systems, and microphones. Remember that you can always choose a theme that fits your event! The extent of the setup varies based on the chosen package. While smaller groups of 60 or less might opt for a budget package with fewer accouterments, the standard package—ideal for groups of 60-150 (this is our more common audience size)—includes many of the expected bells and whistles such as lights, sound system, wireless microphones, a backdrop, and other tricks of the trade. All preparations are typically completed in just under an hour.

See MoreIt was around 11 a.m., and I remember calling the owner of the theater franticly to check if the show booked that afternoon was cancelled. The proprietor, Matt Custer, was trying to get in touch with the senior group to see if they were still coming, but the phone system was only working sporadically due to the high volume of calls. We all assumed that the show would be cancelled, considering the shocking images that we were seeing on every channel. The sizable group was also from New York and they were supposed to have 160 people attend the show that day, surely given the situation they would want to be with their families. However, by around 1p.m., we realized that we had a big problem. The group had come down the day before and was staying at a secluded campground that had no radio, TV or phones.
See MoreTo whomever might chance upon these musings, I, Professor T Halberd of Extempory College's Ancient Linguistics Department, have had the most peculiar and revealing of days. While wandering a local Walmart parking lot this morning, as is my habit to draw inspiration from the mundane, I stumbled upon a revelation. On an aged bus's front bumper, I discerned a line of characters — symbols that I have been researching for years. The very key to the lost language tied to an ancient and ominous cult. The bus itself was a treasure trove, filled to the brim with equipment and peculiar garments. Acting on impulse, I snuck aboard. Finding a hiding spot at the rear of the vehicle, I nestled myself amidst a pile of old-fashioned women's costumes. (The men’s costumes smelled much worse!) There, under the protective layers of brocade and lace, I lay in wait.
See MoreWell, let's step into the magical early days, where Riddlesbrood was a fledgling, spreading its wings. Picture this: the year is 2000, the world breathing a sigh of relief post the Y2K hullabaloo, and in the weird realm of New Jersey, history was being made. Long before they became a household name, Riddlesbrood was carving out its niche in the theater landscape. It all began in the summer of 2000, with the company preparing to breath fresh, comedic life into a timeless classic—"A Christmas Carol." It wasn't just a foray into traditional theater; they revolutionized the "Dinner Theatre" scene across the nation (Ok, well at least in the small town of Collingswood, NJ). Their productions, such as "Medieval Mayhem," showcased an early love for humor intertwined with historical narratives. These pioneering events weren't just shows; they were the genesis of Riddlesbrood's legacy, laying the foundation for decades of laughter, engagement, and theatrical brilliance.

See MoreDeep in the heart of Leeds Point, New Jersey, an intrepid archaeologist stumbled upon an enigmatic novelty concealed within the oddest of hiding places—an old tire, forgotten amidst the eerie woods. Within this heinous hoop lay a manuscript, aged and mysterious, its pages adorned with cryptic symbols and a drawling of the Jersey Devil. It was as if the pigmy pines whispered secrets of a forgotten age. Undeterred by the strangeness that pervaded the air, a defrocked doctor by the name of T Halberd meticulously deciphered the ancient script. To his amazement, the esoteric language unraveled before his eyes, revealing itself as none other than Riddlesdiculous, a tongue used by the inner circle of the Riddlesbrood Touring Theater. The contents of the manuscript, however, were far more astonishing.

See MoreCheers and Good Health to you my fellow intellectuals! It is I, Professor Halbert of Extempory College's Ancient Linguistics Department. I have some foreboding intelligence that anxiety and discomposure compels me to disgorge into your hungry yet loyal ears. I have found proof, incontrovertible proof, that a supernatural cryptid BEAST lurks in our midst—and more then that; this creature is adored by a clan of thespians in our own garden state! This will constitute irrefutable authentication that Riddlesbrood is in fact a devious sect bent on nefarious melodramatic acts! You see, I was going about my normal daily activities when a whim came over me to watch some random corporate training videos (A feeling that strikes me quite often). To further this urge, I borrowed a friend’s car, a 1977 Cadillac Coupe DeVille that he had lovingly restored. I did this so that I could peacefully enjoy listening to a Public Radio Station, whose programming is similar to corporate training videos AND the most reliable source of truth out there.
See MoreGreetings, fellow seekers of incomprehensibilities! Tis I, Dr. T Halberd, with a few new discoveries you should be made aware of. As I am a linguist, philosopher and amateur Minecraft player, my time is at a premium. Which is sadly why I just recently broke up with my girlfriend. We only dated for 2 days and three and a half hours…yet emotionally I’m devastated. I thought it was forever, but she just could not handle my courageous pursuit of hidden occult truths! Anyway, I found myself sulking around the town feeling sorry for myself. And to make matters worse, it was Christmas Time, when everyone else seems to be so damn happy! I hate it when I see happy people. When I walked by I noticed that there were decorations all over the town and some sort of holiday fair going on. I found it particularly annoying and deemed it a likely ‘super spreader event’. However, as I wondered off I heard the sound of Christmas carols being sung nearby. But these discordant tunes were far different from any musicality I had ever heard before. I decided to sneak up and find out more. It was coming from a small puppet stage that was tucked into an ally. There were a few children there listening so I decided to stagger down the cobblestone road to get closer.

See MoreI found a new clue to how these rascals move about our world unseen! You see, since the Pandemic began in the early months of 2020, I was deemed ‘non-essential’ by the faculty and was ejected from my lavish office. However, my superiors had no idea of how important my research was for their safety! I felt duty bound to sneak in each night and continue my groundbreaking efforts for their own good. However, I saw a sign on the wall that said ‘Masks required at ALL times’. Even though I was alone and cloaked in darkness, I felt compelled to obey. But as I was now without employment and also without means to purchase masks, I risked constant infection! Fortunately, nearby there were two grocery stores, an Aldi and a Whole Foods. Moreover, their parking lots were littered with discarded paper masks. Therefore, even though I'd been jabbed by all three pharmaceutical companies I decided I would recycle these masks both for the environment and my own health and safety. Assuming that the patrons of Whole foods were more sophisticated and likeminded, I chose the masks I found there instead of the deplorable ones. Fortunately, I found so many, I was able to wear three at a time!

See MoreAn outdoor stage is essential at a festival or fun fair, providing a focal point for live entertainment, performances, and announcements. It enhances the atmosphere, engages crowds, and supports local artists, making events more dynamic, interactive, and memorable for attendees. Attracting customers to your restaurant, banquet hall or social venue has always been challenging, but now, because of the new Covid safety guidelines and restrictions on capacity with social distancing, it’s even more critical to convince isolation weary diners that your business is a secure place where they can enjoy a meal and have some fun. It’s no doubt, you’ve sanitized, cleaned, and sterilized … masked-up, washed-up, and temperature-checked as much as you possibly can. In addition to being squeaky clean, many establishments have moved outdoors.
See MoreDon't waste today in sorrow—choose joy, embrace laughter, and let happiness light your way! It's already a proven scientific fact that laughter causes the release of endorphins in our brains that produce feelings of happiness and an elevated sense of well-being. But the results of a recent study about relaxed "social laughter" and the role it plays in our lives has revealed that the effects of group laughter are much more far reaching than temporarily elevating our mood levels. These experiments have shown that laughter isn't just an essential component of our social exchanges and non-verbal communication, it also has a great effect on our well-being by fostering group bonding and providing us with an enhanced ability to protect ourselves from both physical and psychological pain by elevating our pain thresholds.
See MoreMany parents are dreading that warm summer day in June when their children don't have to get up to go to school. In fact, just getting them out of bed before noon is a tug-of-war of epic proportions. And camp leaders are also wondering what they might select as an activity for their campers this year! But more important than this: what do you do with them while they are home? How do you keep them entertained? And here's the most important question: how will you keep their plastic little brains from atrophying while they're out of school? Research is revealing what parents have known for decades -- that most kids forget over summer break what they learned during the school year. The reason for this is simple: they don't have to apply themselves while school is out of session.

But what if your prom was different? Instead of the typical first hour of awkwardness - you were washing the first slow dance jitters down with a live murder mystery party!
See MoreEvery company, no matter the size, gets it wrong on occasion. Regardless of how organized you may be or how much talent you have on your team, you just can’t win every battle. For entertainment companies (including groups that do murder mysteries, dinner theater and live performance), EVERY event counts! So, what can one do when troubles come around? Show real grit! Face it head on, take responsibility and make it happen. A few years ago, we were booked for a Sweet 16 party around Halloween time. We were hired to perform a spooky murder mystery followed by a night of dancing with our DJ package. Since there were so many teens, it was understood that the DJ portion was going to be the primary entertainment for the event. It was going to be a large party, too, with over 100 people. The client was going to “Theme” the room with decorations, table arrangements - the works. Everything needed to be just right. On the day of the party, things started normal enough. We loaded up for the show, turned on our GPS and took off in our van headed north for the event. That’s when old “Murphy’s Law” began to rear its ugly head.
See MoreWe, the actors of The Riddlesbrood Touring Dinner Theater Company miss you terribly and can’t wait until the time returns when we can come to your next birthday party, anniversary, company gathering, family reunion … or even post-Coronavirus celebration; we’ll be celebrating anything and everything, then! (National Toilet Paper Liberation Day, anyone?) For, as much as we love our cozy beds and comfy couches, fully-stocked refrigerators and more than ample time to binge watch our favorite shows, we know you’re looking forward to the days when you can hug your friends at the local club’s fundraiser, dine inside your favorite restaurant for your parent’s anniversary, throw an in-person surprise party for your son’s graduation, or host the next holiday at your house for your entire family. (OK, maybe not ALL your relatives!)
See MoreAh, my dear friends, it is I, Madame Cluedefti—psychic, mystery expert, and your guide to thrilling summer fun! The shore is calling, and what better way to heat things up than with a murder mystery party by the sea? Gather your guests, sip a cocktail, and let the intrigue begin! Ahhh, those “lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer . . . those days of mystery, and pirates, and games.” (Hey, you sing the song your way . . . I’ll sing it mine!) Good day. I’m here to tell you that a Summer Murder Mystery Party in NJ with pirates or other crazy characters, or a high-energy live comedy game show is a fantastic way to celebrate any occasion this time of year. Your summer party doesn’t have to be the same old lazy scene . . . unless, of course, you really enjoy listening to Uncle Tommy playing “Yankee Doodle” on his ukulele for the one-hundredth time. If you’re challenged with planning your next family get together or little Susie’s tenth birthday party and your brain is hazy trying to come up with something fun and new . . . do not stress, for the answer is simple.
See MoreHello this is Dr. T Halberd, with Extempory College's Ancient Linguistics Department. I felt it my solemn duty to inform you of a new translation. I'm sure that you have been on the edge of your seats, but i assure you this newest revelation will baffle you further! As many of you know I have dedicated my life to uncovering the suspicious and possibly nefarious agenda of a secret society known as the Riddlesbrood. While they often pose as a touring theater company, the truth is, in my opinion, that it is a cover for something far darker and mysterious. You see, I was a thrift shop the other day and was looking through the old books for sale when I found a naughty old playboy, after studying it rather intently for three hours, I noticed another old tome that aroused me in a different way. But just as i picked it up, an old woman, likely the owner, interrupted me rudely.
See MoreTo become an actor in NJ, or any other place for that matter, requires more than hard work - - - it requires a little insanity. (OK, some would argue it may require more than just a little!) If you've ever wondered why anybody in his or her right mind (as mentioned, perhaps not a prerequisite) would choose to risk utter and extreme humiliation in front of an audience, you’re not alone. Many people don’t understand why we become actors, but I’ll let you in on the secret if you keep reading. Your persistence emboldens me so much that i feel free to divulge the facts to you! [This rad crew is rocking an ‘80s vibe with neon colors, big hair, and iconic outfits straight out of a classic flick. From a Ghostbuster ready to zap some ghouls to a rockin’ leather-clad rebel, and even a bride who might’ve just stepped out of a music video, this scene is pure retro magic!]
See MoreI know you’re thinking about whether or not to host an audience participation murder mystery in NJ, because I, Madame Cluedefti, expert on all things murder mystery, gazed inside my crystal ball and saw that you’re planning an event; (that, and the fact that an all-knowing search engine brought you directly to my blog, because – to be honest - crystal balls aren’t really as accurate as Google). In any case, you’ve found the right place for information on a unique, fun-filled audience participation murder mystery in NJ, for I can tell you everything you need to know about that subject. You’ve made an excellent choice to shift your event into high gear by hosting an audience participation murder mystery. An interactive event is always more fun for your guests than simply expecting them to pass time chatting about the weather. Of course, your guests should feel free to chat about the latest heat wave, snow storm, or rain shower if they wish … but an audience participation murder mystery in NJ will add action-packed excitement to your special occasion and create those exceptional moments and hilarious photos your guests will share on social media.

See MoreToday, we shine the spotlight on the incredible Ronald W. Long, a man who lived the dream for nearly seven decades—spreading joy, laughter, and earning applause galore! Though he may have taken his final bow, his legacy of creativity and cheer will keep on shining. Ronald W. Long was an actor, a director, a musician, a writer, a father, and, by his own admission, a full-time village idiot. But above all, he was a storyteller. He understood that life itself was a kind of theater, and if you had to be in the show, you might as well make it a good one. Ron was born on November 6, 1950, a time when the world was black and white—at least on TV screens.
See MoreAh, my dear friends, it is I, Madame Cluedefti, bringing you thrilling news! [The deep velvet drapes conceal ancient mysteries, while ghostly relics linger in the background, waiting to reveal their tales. Dare you step closer? The truth is but a question away… if you have the courage to ask!]

See MoreGreetings, fellow seekers of obscurities, it is I, Dr. T Halberd, with some new revelations about the secret cult in our midst! For many years, I have been convinced of the existence of an underground order of augers and theurgists which operate in Southern New Jersey and sometimes well, well beyond. What their nefarious objectives are, I cannot yet say, although their surreptitiousness implies, they have some devious malice in mind for us all! But to the point, a student brought a startling piece of new evidence to me in return for changing his grade, which I happily did. The article he delivered was a small piece of wax-paper, partially burnt, which had abundant traces of pizza sauce upon it. Instantaneously, I surmised that it was some critical piece of information that had been transmitted by a pizza delivery person—where the pizza itself, obscured the message until eaten. I eagerly set about working out the meaning of the strange characters over two bottles of Château Lafite-Rothschild.
See MoreCan comedy truly help a company thrive, or is it merely a fleeting distraction? Does laughter forge deeper connections between employees and customers, fostering loyalty and creativity? Perhaps humor is not just entertainment, but a vital force that strengthens resilience, innovation, and human connection. “Believe nothing you hear, and only one half that you see.” Edgar Allan Poe- Is the monotony of your daily work routine getting you down? Forget about any "professional" considerations you may have had that kept you from sharing a little humor and laughter with your co-workers! Let yourself go and tell that funny story or a few good jokes! They might be just the prescription for not only breaking up your co-workers around the water cooler, but also breaking up the tedium each day when it's all "business".

See MoreWhen you are a touring theater company, you have to be ready for almost any situation. People expect you to get to the gig, no matter what! Weather can be a tricky thing to account for when you’re putting together an event with entertainment. Outdoor affairs open to the elements keep event coordinators up at night, however even a party indoors can be impacted by Mother Nature. Heavy rains, wind, power outages, snow and even weather-related traffic can all disrupt itineraries and spell a cancellation. But one thing is always certain, and that’s when your patrons and customers are sitting at the table, the entertainment better be able to get there! As a touring theater company, Riddlesbrood has performed more than 2500 shows and has seen its share of weather-related problems. We've performed shows with flashlights on more than one occasion, but the best story goes back a few years.
See MoreAh, my dear friends, Madame Cluedefti has seen it all—including those unfortunate souls who sit in the audience with their arms crossed, unimpressed, as if they were dragged to the event against their will! But fear not, for I know the secret to turning even the most reluctant guests into thrilled participants. When you plan a party or special event, you invest thought, time, energy, and money into ensuring your event is the best it can possibly be. You want your audience to be captivated by the entertainment you’ve chosen and to thank you for your hard work—after all, planning a party is no small task! If you’re in charge of selecting entertainment for a corporate event or hosting a private gathering for friends or relatives, it’s natural to worry about how your audience will react.

See MoreI am Professor T. Halberd of Extempory College—scholar of ancient linguistics and human flatulence, a man burdened with knowledge few dare to seek. And yet, even I was unprepared for what I recently uncovered. It began with a pattern; one I could not ignore. Scattered across gas station pumps throughout New Jersey and Pennsylvania, I found cryptic stickers—affixed to vending machines, restroom doors, even the dim-lit corners of convenience stores. The symbol they bore was striking, evocative, almost hypnotic. It gnawed at the edges of my mind, demanding inquiry. My research led me to a revelation both strange and troubling: this was the sigil of Riddlesbrood Theater. Thus, I set out to unravel its secrets. This article shall attempt to grant you, dear reader, the capacity to comprehend its true nature. A single viewing of this symbol has the power to alter your consciousness—perhaps even your very state of mind! Alas, as with all imposing insignia, mortals are forever changed by the symbols they gaze upon. Riddlesbrood’s unforgettable logo is no exception.
See MoreAh, my dears, remember me? I am Madame Cluedefti—psychic, amateur psychiatrist, and connoisseur of all things mysterious and theatrical! My expertise in the psychological arts is unparalleled, and I once even read the mind of the ghost of Carl Jung himself! Yes, he was quite the thinker, though I must say, his spectral subconscious was rather cluttered. Now, when booking a murder mystery or dinner theater show for your event, it is essential to ensure that the entertainment measures up to the occasion. Does the performance fit the size of your audience? The dimensions of the room? The mood of the evening? The expectations of your guests? These are no trivial matters, for the psychology of an event plays a crucial role in its success.

The bars on the windows crisscross her body like patchwork when lightning strikes and she screams towards the ceiling. Well, a conlanger is an artist, too, but his art is designing new languages. The term comes from the union of two words “construction” and “language,” and is defined as, “a language whose phonology, grammar, and vocabulary have been consciously devised for human or human-like communication.” It’s also referred to as an artificial or invented language. See MoreArt is at its very heart, subjective. For those of us who dedicate our lives to producing entertainment it can be difficult to understand why some shows are well received while others are not. Murder mystery, Dinner theater and frankly theater of any type can be so non-quantifiable that it defies measurement in the traditional sense. Smart business owners understandably seek explanations, yet sitting down making lists of “contributing factors” is often fruitless. Was it the actors? The lighting? The room? That joke? Maybe our costumes? Producers and artists can debate it for hours and come no closer to really identifying what makes a phenomenal show. Do not delay, click the blog and read this amazing article before you forget!

See MoreIn every culture, society and lost civilization the names for the parts of the body tend to be the oldest of all words. Altering little over the eons and remain curiously static through many generations. Greetings, my name is Dr. T Halberd from Extempory College's Ancient Linguistics Department. Today I would like to share with you some of my newest findings concerning the enigmatic and underground group, for which there is no official name, yet I call Harkeens--from their strange symbol. Beyond this, as an artistic company based upon creating original productions, we feel strongly about the right of free speech and, as a matter of principle, oppose the arbitrary restrictions of the hypersensitive. Since our inception, our motto has been ‘The laugh justifies the means’, which has become a hallmark of our success.

The guest’s ditched their suits for coat of arms, Victorian costumes, or the tri-corned hats of privateers! You are about to run the gauntlet carrying your heart on your sleeve. Have fun! See MoreGo ahead … let out a long, loud, gut-wrenching belly laugh! Ahhh… doesn’t that feel great? We at Riddlesbrood Touring Theater Company know that laughter is not only good for you, but that it’s even more beneficial when shared with others. But, don’t just take our word for it … listen to the experts. Although we often crack ourselves up, (yes, we think we’re funny and hope you will, too) … scientists have observed that most people do not laugh alone. People laugh up to 30 times more when in groups. Why is this important? Well, researchers have speculated that laughter evolved to boost social bonding and cooperation. They claim that, through the shared experience of humor, individuals acquire a feeling of being part of a meaningful whole. Humor breaks tension in a fun way that creates open communication, lowers stress and anxiety, and improves morale.
See MoreThere has been quite a bit of chatter online in the entertainment world about audience interaction, audience participation, engagement and the like. There are about as many different terms as there are definitions which has contributed to a lot of confusion about what exactly audience interaction is; not to mention how it effects an evening of entertainment. Murder mystery companies specifically have latched onto the phrase and profess audience interaction to be a universal good while other more traditional theater troupes decry it as cheap and amateur. See MoreHello, hello. I am Madame Cluedefti, your eyes into the dramatic world of murder mystery. Come in, sit down, let’s discuss choosing the best theme for your murder mystery party. Choosing a theme for a party can be a fantastic way to bring more life and energy to your event. This entails taking a more holistic approach to your party. Not just the show and the food but also the room decorations, place settings, background music, and the like need to be center stage. You’ve seen it! Remember that Halloween Party you went to where the walls were adorned with skeletons, orange streamers and black table cloths? Exactly! That’s the theme to an event—And it can be done with almost anything from Mardi Gras to Cinco de mayo! The general look and feel of your Murder Mystery Party is one of the most important elements in throwing a murder mystery. This needs to keep your attendee’s interest for the entirety of the program. In this article I will explain how figure it all out!
See MoreI, Madame Cluedefti, an expert on all things murder mystery, have an excellent suggestion. Instead of rewarding everybody with only food and drink for enduring fifteen practice-runs up and down the aisle as your nephew Teddy plays Mendelssohn’s wedding march on his trumpet for the hundredth time, why not spice up a potentially bland rehearsal dinner by throwing a murder mystery rehearsal dinner? A murder mystery is a fun, unique way to get your family (and soon-to-be-new family) interacting and collaborating with each other towards the common goal of solving a mystery. They’ll be talking about your rehearsal dinner for years afterward . . . and I mean in a good way . . . not like at my wedding rehearsal dinner when my brother decided to impress my fiancée’s sister with his Popeye the Sailor Man impersonations. Needless to say, that did not go well, and to this day my sister-in-law breaks out in a cold sweat whenever she sees green leafy vegetables. Take my advice and don’t serve spinach at your rehearsal dinner just in case your brother gets the same idea.

See MoreAfter 20+ years of presenting original, live comedic entertainment to a wide variety of audiences at private, corporate and public venues throughout the east coast, we have established some core values concerning our unique brand of humor. Generally, our Dinner Theater and Murder Mystery events focus on interactive spontaneity and improvisational skills intended to give each audience an opportunity to "let loose", laugh, and have a great time.

See MoreHello, my name is Doctor T Halberd, from Princeton New Jersey. I was to follow in my fathers footsteps and become an archeologist but as my life would have it, I was pulled in a different direction. The incident that diverted me was a strange—unexplainable dread for which I will ever after seek the true meaning of....Since the very earliest times, people have used symbols to mark their services and products in the marketplace to differentiate themselves from others. However, symbols are used for more than that. These pictograms can also be used to ward off evil spirits, or protect oneself from the evil eye! A mysterious mark shrouded in secrecy, hinting at hidden meanings and deeper mysteries. Read more to learn!
See MoreThere are those who, despite repeated warnings, have persisted in their perilous curiosity—obsessively whispering, prying, and delving into shadowed corners—desperate to unearth the truth about Clyde P. Riddlesbrood. Who is he, truly? And from where, exactly, did he come? Some say it is a question best left unasked, for to know too much is to tread on dangerous ground. Others claim the tale is so riddled with half-truths, contradictions, and vanishing details that it defies all attempts at comprehension. I must confess, there is no simple way to tell this story. It is a tangled web, woven from fragments of truth and gossamer threads of illusion. Some have sought answers in the cryptic passages of a long-lost artifact—the fabled Greatest Brochure in the World. It is said that within its pages lies the key to unraveling the enigma, yet copies are exceedingly rare, vanishing from shelves, slipping from hands, and mysteriously turning to dust when read too closely. Even those who claim to have glimpsed its contents speak in hushed tones, their recollections hazy, as if the knowledge itself refuses to be retained.
See MoreMy name is Dr. T Halberd from Extempory College's Ancient Linguistics Department, and I must make you aware of a devious method of communication. The Riddlesbrood Touring Theater Company (as they style themselves) are much more then they appear on the surface. After many years of obsessive research—and I have consistently said as much in my numerous articles— It is self-evident that these ’Thespians’ are convinced that they have a great mission: to cleanse the world of fantastical creatures which live in peoples brains—one audience at a time! Now, as a scientist and vegetarian, I’m not credulous enough to endorse such foolishness, yet I strongly suspect that this so-called ‘Theater Troupe’ is nothing less than a subversive and dangerous secret order. I shall prove as much in the following text.
See MoreIt was on a dark, rain-slicked evening as I walked alone down Haddon Avenue in Collingswood, NJ, that I first heard it. A melody—warbling and spectral—drifted through the mist like an incantation spoken in hushed, forbidden tongues. The sound seemed to coil around me, pressing against my very skin. I stopped dead in my tracks, my pulse hammering in my throat. This was no ordinary song. This was something else. Something wrong. I am Professor T. Halberd of Extempory College—scholar of ancient linguistics and antiquarian archaeologist—a man well-versed in the hidden mechanisms of influence and manipulation. And yet, as I stood there, without an umbrella, alone beneath the yellowish salt lamps, I felt powerless against the uncanny force carried by that cursed melody. It was not just music; it was a summons. A whisper slithering into the subconscious, reshaping thought, drawing the unsuspecting toward some unseen threshold. And I knew at once—knew with an awful certainty—that this was the work of them. The evil cult of Riddlesbrood!
See MoreThe Greatest Brochure in the World is no ordinary book—it is a legend in itself! Written by Clyde P. Riddlesbrood and first published in 2015, this ever-evolving masterpiece has been revised and expanded annually, growing more detailed and spectacular with each iteration. More than just a true account of how Riddlesbrood came into existence, the book is a testament to the boundless power of imagination, proving that creative vision can shape entire worlds. True to its name, The Greatest Brochure in the World is, in fact, a brochure—albeit an impossibly exhaustive one—detailing every service Riddlesbrood offers to prospective buyers. Even its physical form mimics a traditional brochure, yet it defies expectations with its incredible length, breathtaking illustrations, and astonishing depth. In Riddlesbrood fashion, long equals great, making this the greatest brochure ever conceived!
See MoreOne should not take an uncertain shot in the dark, but must confidently hit the audience’s “wow” spot . . . and that’s exactly what the Riddlesbrood Touring Theater Company did to a banquet room full of expert mystery writers when they performed their Sherlock Holmes show at the Deadly Ink Mystery Writer’s Conference held recently at the Hyatt Regency in New Brunswick, NJ back in 2014. It seems like just yesterday! Although choking and shooting are popular methods for killing off murder victims in a mystery plot, they’re not recommended during an awards banquet, unless of course you’re watching them during a hilarious Riddlesbrood murder mystery show. “We’re honored to be chosen as the official murder mystery theater for this year’s Deadly Ink conference,” said Clyde P, founder of Riddlesbrood, “and we thank Debby Buchanan, Deadly Ink’s chairperson, for inviting us to perform at this prestigious event. We’re thrilled we had the opportunity to entertain such an accomplished group of published authors and mystery writers.”

See MoreIt’s about time. Yes, I knew you would be back. Welcome. Sit down, let me walk through your brain. Ahhh yes, I see... you’re stressed, frazzled, annoyed even! You’re thinking: finding a venue for a murder mystery party should be simple. But I can see your travels show you otherwise. Remember, come to me before venturing out on your own, for I have all the answers. First off, remember that you’re planning a Murder Mystery Party, not just a dinner outing; decide on your entertainment before your venue. Determining the entertainment first is crucial when selecting the best place. Murder mystery companies vary on the amount of space that they need. Accessories like sound systems, lights or a backdrop will change the footprint of the show. You may love a venue because you have been to an event there or you know the owner, but always keep your guests and the show first. Keep in mind that shows are visual! The event is about the total experience, so ensure that the venue fits the entertainment, not the other way around.
